Beat the Spring Rush

Fall & Winter Deck Building in Omaha

Most homeowners call a deck builder the first warm week of April. So do their neighbors. Plan and build in the colder months and your deck is finished before the spring line even forms.

Why Build Now

Why the Off-Season Is the Smart Season

Ready on Day One of Spring

Instead of booking in March and building in June, you start the season with the grill already on the deck.

More Time to Get the Design Right

No rush. Compare Wolf Serenity colors and cedar samples at your kitchen table, and think through stairs, lighting and layout before anything is built.

Easier Scheduling

Spring and early summer fill up fast. In fall and winter, it's easier to land a start date that works for you.

Easier on Your Yard

Equipment and foot traffic are easier on a dormant lawn than on fresh spring growth.

Cold Weather Building

Yes, We Build Decks in Cold Weather

Our crews build through most of the year, including the colder months. Snowstorms and heavy rain can push a work day, so we plan around the forecast and keep you posted when the schedule moves.

Footings go down to the depth the code requires, and fresh concrete is protected from freezing while it cures. On days when the weather would compromise the work, we wait.

We'd rather lose a day than cut a corner.

The Process

How Fall and Winter Booking Works

  1. Free in-home consultation

Ben Watson visits, measures the space and talks through how you want to use the deck. We bring material samples so you can see them against your house.

  2. Design and itemized estimate

You get a written, itemized estimate, so you know exactly what's included before you commit.

  3. Permit and start date

We pull the permit and set a build date that fits the forecast and your calendar.

  4. Build and walkthrough

We build, clean up and walk through the finished deck with you.

Prefer to build in spring? Finish the design and estimate this winter and we'll put you on the schedule for early spring, ahead of the rush.

What Omaha Homeowners Are Saying

"We received exceptional service from Big Pine Decks! Ben Watson came to our home for the consultation. He actively listened to our project goals and offered design ideas we hadn't considered. His attention to detail was impeccable from start to finish. Not only did Ben and his crew craft a beautiful outdoor living space, but they are one of the friendliest teams we've worked with. They knocked it out of the park!"

Questions

Fall and Winter Deck Building FAQs

Can you pour footings when it's cold?
Usually, yes. We dig to the depth the code requires and protect fresh concrete from freezing while it cures. On the coldest days we reschedule rather than risk the footing.
Will winter weather delay my project?
It can. Severe winter weather or heavy rain can push a day or two, and we’ll tell you as soon as the schedule changes. Most standard decks still take 3 to 7 days of work once we start.
Shouldn't I wait for spring to pick colors?
No need. We bring Wolf Serenity and cedar samples to your home, so you can see them against your siding in natural light any time of year.
Do I need a permit for a winter build?
Yes, the same permit as any other time of year. We handle it and schedule the inspections for you.
Do you build in Iowa too?
Yes. We build across the Omaha metro and western Iowa, including Council Bluffs.
